RISES Spring Dessert Potluck

Please join us Sunday, May 17, 2-3 pm at the United Church in Northfield for our first Spring Members Meeting.

Whether you've been involved in multiple Northfield RISES activities over the last few months, or just taken part in a large rally or two, your presence and voice are needed to help us set our direction and schedule for the coming months.

If the meeting has a theme, it's probably 'Focusing on Signs of Hope' -  the experiences and events that keep us hopeful as we work to protect the values and rights laid out in the Constitution, respond to the needs of neighbors affected by the current administration's budget cuts and protest ICE's abusive efforts at immigration control.

The meeting will take the form of a Potluck Meal, but with a twist - no salads or main meal offerings - just desserts. So bring just a dessert to share. As the saying goes, when the going gets rough, eat desserts first!

In between feasting on desserts and talking with known and new neighbors, we'll do a quick recap of Northfield RISES activities over the past months, take a look at some of the events and volunteer opportunities -- local, statewide, national-- planned for the summer months that could fit well into our Northfield RISES Schedule.

And there'll be a bit of music too - old and new songs of protest and support for justice. Let us know if you're a musician who'd like to add your voice and instrument to our music team.

Again, your voice and thoughts are important so please plan on attending! And don't forget about the dessert!
